Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier trilogy is happening!!

It looks like Daniel Cormier is going to stay in for more fights, according to the UFC president Dana White. This Thursday, he has shared the plan to book Cormier for a trilogy fight before his retirement. Undoubtedly, the match will only take place when both fighters are healthy enough to compete again. “Stipe is recovering from that fight. He’s got some bumps and bangs from that fight. We’re waiting for him to heal and then yeah, we’re going to do the trilogy,” White shared with the press.

Previously, Cormier has won over Miocic in their first fight in 2018. However, he suffered the same situation in their rematch at the UFC 241 last August. While starting with a strong punch, Cormier lost his cool when Miocic began targeting him at the body. This resulted in a fourth-round knockout as the Ohio fighter took back the heavyweight title. After the fight, Cormier stated he would be needing more time to plan his future.

Surprisingly, he has teased about his retirement when talking about the rematch with Miocic. However, with White confirmation on the trilogy fight, it looks like Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier are coming back to the cage after all. On the other hand, Miocic has been avoiding the questions about who he wanted to fight next after taking back his title. Many believe that his next opponent could be Francis Ngannou, who managed to rattle off three straight wins in a row with a trio of knockouts upon Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, and Curtis Blaydes. Unfortunately, the UFC seems to prefer the Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier 3 instead.

When should Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier 3 take place?

As both parties are now in time for healing, White couldn’t give out a specific timeline for the matches. However, since we’re now just more than three months away from the end of the year, it might fall on at the earliest of 2020.
