After the whole dispute with UFC, which led to a retirement statement, Conor McGregor‘s name still appears on various potential matches. According to the promotion president, the Irishman is upset when he couldn’t fight Gaethje for the interim lightweight title. While there is a standoff between him and the promotion, the Notorious doesn’t need the money like others. On the other hand, it looks like Justin Gaethje still wants this fight to happen.

So far, he has racked up a four-win streak, making his confidence level higher than ever. As a result, Gaethje believes that he could destroy the Irish fighter if they ever fight. In a recent sharing, ‘The Highlight’ claimed that he could take down McGregor after three rounds. Additionally, he also states that the former two-title champ should have wait until the lightweight unification fight for a title shot.

“I think he should wait for the winner of Khabib and me. If I win, I think he definitely comes back. If Khabib wins, I don’t know. I’m not sure about that. (Conor’s) a legend, man. What he did was legendary status. I’ll never take that away from him. He deserves credit. He’s accomplished so much in this sport. What every fighter wants to attain, he accomplished, so hats off to him. I can’t wait to punch him in the face.” On one side, he has suffered defeat under the hands of Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez before. Meanwhile, the Notorious managed to knock out both of them.

Distance

Furthermore, ‘The Highlight’ believes that his left kicks will play an important in such a clash. Nevertheless, we need to note that McGregor is one of the cleanest counter strikers in the promotion. Besides, he also possessed an excellent stand-up game. Without a doubt, their match will be a fascinating fight. “I think the best thing about me is I can kick the f**k out of people, so when they are trying to control distance, or maybe they are winning at that, I can kick them in the leg and try to reset that. So I think I would knock him out, to be honest.”
