Jorge Masvidal Agrees Title BMF Fight on One Week’s Notice!

Based on the latest news, we’re getting another BMF fight soon! The first BMF champion is reportedly going to meet Kamaru Usman for a match. After signing the terms and contracts, they will fight for the welterweight title. It looks like Masvidal was a replacement for Gibert Burns after the latter tested positive for COVID 19. On the other hand, 2019 was undoubtedly a fantastic year for Masvidal!

He began by knocking out Darren Till in their clash in London. After that, we have to mention that time when he slapped Leon Edwards and earned a new nickname ‘Street Jesus’. However, his coup de grace moment was when he knocked Ben Askren in the ring by way of flying knee. While his career shot up during the year, Masvidal, unfortunately, got into a feud with the UFC.

In detail, Masvidal felt that he was undervalued since the promotion didn’t want to match his required salary for the Nate Diaz bout. Who knows that his waiting will bring him the chance for glory? At first, the BMF match was supposed to happen due to the current health crisis protocols and some financial issues. Nevertheless, the promotion had to give in because of its UAE partners. Particularly, Masvidal and Usman will be headlining the upcoming UFC: Fight Island event in Abu Dhabi. In the co-main event, Max Holloway searches for redemption against featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski.

Save the date

This exciting match will take place this weekend on July 11. Both parties are going to fly to Yas Island separately by private planes. Asides from the health checks, there is also the issue of making weight for Masvidal. Time is running out, so he has to be quick.
