Dana White: Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2 is a done deal!
It looks like Conor McGregor is finally back in the game. In the post-fight press conference for UFC Vegas 12, president Dana White has revealed that the Irishman will be meeting Dustin Poirier for a rematch early next year. White claimed that the contract is a done deal “as far as I know.” Previously, the two warriors exchanged fist in 2014 at the featherweight division.
At that time, the Notorious, surging in the 145-pound division, defeated his rival with an impressive first-round TKO. After that, Poirier decided to move up to the lightweight division and went on a tear. He culminated an excellent record when ith winning the interim title. However, it ended when Khabib Nurmagomedov beat him in September last year. In June 2020, he returned to the win column with a decision win over Dan Hooker.
On the other hand, McGregor has been quiet this year after a triumphant victory over Donald Cerrone in January. Initially, the Irish man has called for a charity match with Poirier, which led to Dana White offering them a fight in the UFC. However, it brought a potential conflict behind the scenes, and the Irish fighter publicly squabbled. Now with his name being linked to this fight, it seems like it worked out. After the rematch news got out, both former two-division and interim champions showed their attitude by tweeting thumbs up on social media.

From what we heard, the fight should take place on January 23rd. More news about the clash will come out in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned for the last updates!
