Conor McGregor Accepted Dustin Poirier Rematch in 2020!

A few days ago, we caught the news about the potential rematch between the Irishman and Floyd Mayweather. However, the boxing legend demands a hefty paycheck before accepting the deal. On the other hand, it seems like the Notorious is getting busy once again. Returning from his ‘pretended’ retirement, McGregor stated that he would be up for a rematch against Dustin Poirier.

Judging from the vacancies after many withdrawals on UFC 255 an 256 event, this clash has a high chance of happening! His last match at the UFC event was a fight with Donald Cerrone in January, where the two-weight champ put on a fantastic performance. He eviscerated his rival under a minute. Initially, this was supposed to be the start of his comeback. However, the ongoing pandemic ended this plan quickly.

For now, he’s at odds with the UFC president himself, where the latter shredded him during an interview. This came after the Irishman had leaked various screenshots from their exchange. Nevertheless, McGregor now wants in. If the promotion accepts, we could be seeing this clash quite soon. Both ‘The Diamond’ and McGregor have recently announced their interest to fight for charity. They fought before back in 2014 when the Notorious was a newbie to the fighting world. Winning by first-round TKO, this was the beginning of his ‘Mystic Mac’ persona.

In a recent tweet, McGregor shared: “Hello Dustin! I accepted the offer to fight you but told them it must happen in 2020. I’m ready for Nov 21st, given that cards recent injury issues, as well as any of the December dates, the 12th, and the 19th. I’ll also still donate the $500k to The Good Fight Foundation.” On the other hand, Poirier also said: “Khabib said if him or Tony beat me that he would give them a shot at the title, so if that holds any weight, he’s looking at that. I don’t know what his ambition is, I don’t know how hungry he is to be the UFC lightweight world champion. If it is, a fight with me makes a lot of sense to get the next title shot. He could push for a fight with Tony. That would be an exciting fight. I’m a fan of the sport and I think that would be a good fight to watch, but Tony is coming off of a loss. I just had the interim title, I’m number two, I’m coming off of a win, a Fight of the Year contender, I think it makes more sense. Every fight is a chance or a risk, no matter how prepared you are. If you’re gonna risk something, do it with the top guy and get a title shot.”
