Conor McGregor Took Eight Hours Trip for This 4-Second KO Win!

If we talked about the hottest names in the world of MMA, Conor McGregor would definitely appear. The former featherweight and lightweight champ’s journey to stardom are one for the book. After becoming the owner of the title throne with European promotion Cage Warriors, he joined the UFC in 2013. After that, he rose to fame rapidly. However, controversy after controversy once again stands in his success.

With such a history, people sometimes would forget that he is a brilliant fighter who has fought head-to-head against Khabib Nurmagamedov. Today, the Irishman took a look back at one of the memorable clash against Paddy Doherty in 2011. At the time, the match-up took place in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland, a different location from the usual Madison Square Garden or the lights of Las Vegas.

Going into the fight, The Notorious was holding a record of 6-2, while his rival was officially 4-8. Their fight didn’t last long when McGregor managed to land his signature step back and end Doherty with a brutal finish. From various videos we have seen, it was a devastating finish and the fastest of his career up till then. The Irishman repeated the same move when he defeated Jose Aldo to win the 145lb UFC title.

8 hour trip for a 4 second KO!

Later, SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh shared a trivia on the clash. According to him, they had to take an eight-hour round trip from Dublin to Donegal to join the match. “This was an 8hr roundtrip for less than 4 seconds. There was zero money involved those days so I actually did want to see some fighting.”
