Colby Covington hints about a possible matchup with Khamzat Chimaev!

We all know that Covington held some bad blood with Kamaru Usman after losing to him at UFC 268. They fought for the main event of the November UFC pay-per-view event. Unfortunately, the night ended with him and a unanimous decision loss. According to “Chaos,” he should have earned at least three out of the five rounds. However, the odds were in favor of the current welterweight champion.

In a recent sharing, Covington claimed that he’s ready to be back. Moreover, the American fighter promises to deliver some exciting performance, no matter who the promotion will book for him. Without a doubt, he didn’t fail to mention a possible trilogy bout with Usman. However, before getting to this point, there are some names that he must defeat first.

One of them is his former training partner Jorge Masvidal. Additionally, there is also the undefeated star Khamzat Chimaev. Speaking on Chimaev, Covington didn’t hesitate to hold back: “He’s a joke. What does he have, four UFC fights? The media loves to rush these kids and these hype jobs. This is fighting, man. People can get seriously hurt from rushing people like that.” Covington stated that Chimaev needs to fight someone worthy, a “top 5” ranking, perhaps? On the other hand, he also hints about the possibility of this match. “The door is open for that…so whoever they try and match me up with next, you’re gonna see those new layers, and someone is gonna get seriously hurt.”

Is Jorge Masvidal next?

Speaking about Jorge Masvidal, it seems like Covington also has some comments: “I’ll fight anybody. That’s what the best does, they come out and prove it; I’m willing to prove it. Guys like Jorge Masvidal, he won’t prove it. He just says things to the media… He talks reckless, but he won’t prove it. I’m out here ready to prove it, so anybody, bring them all. Just don’t expect to get them back in one piece.”
