Canelo’s 2021 goal is to UNIFY all 168lbs BELTS!

In a recent conversation with the press, the pound-for-pound king clarifies that he wants to campaign at 168lbs. Furthermore, he aims to clear out the division first before jumping to any weight class. However, that doesn’t mean he plans to stay in one place for too long. His big goal for the year is to unify the division and finally become the undisputed champion.

To archive this, he has to defeat all current active champions of the super middleweight division. For his next match, Canelo could be meeting WBC Mandatory Challenger Avni Yildrim. Their clash should take place next month. If he wants to unify the belts, the champ will need to accept this match to avoid being stripped from his title. Whenever his fight happens, they always become a celebration in Mexico, as many fans will tune in.

If the pandemic didn’t happen, he would havebeen set to fight on Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence Day. Canelo stated: “I want to take all of the titles (at 168). My goal is to fight anyone at 168 if they have a title; that’s who I’m going to go after. The goal is February, May, and September. That’s our goal for 2021.” Now, if all champions don’t fight each other for a unification, Canelo will be super busy this year. As the current WBC and WBA Super Middleweight Champion, he got three more names to fight: Carlos Gongora, Caleb Plant, and Billy Joe Saunders.

The journey to the title unification

Canelo’s goal will be an exciting story to follow. Will he take down all of his rivals easily, or any uprising conflicts? Let’s stay tuned to find out!
